2 shot and killed yesterday morning at a gaming center in North Austin.
Reading the news...a little bit confused about this. 1 was definitely a homicide, but the other one seems to be justified homicide (the security guard shooting and killing the person who's responsible for the homicide).
It's being investigated as #2 and #3 homicide in Austin.
Also a case from November in which a shooting victim unfortunately just passed away in January, so an upgrade to a homicide.
As of today, I counted 5 for Philly committed in 2024 based on news stories since January 1st.
Police website says 7. In 2018 there was only 1 at this time, but in 2014 and 2015 there were 8 at the same time and the city finished below 250 homicides both years.
Atlanta is at 4 now to my knowledge. Not a good start. Then again it happens in waves so it could be that the first week happens to be a bad one and hopefully it's not an indicator of how the entire year is going to be.
