I know that the Galleria in Houston has a Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Cartier, Bvlgari, Gucci, Louis Vuitton. A lot of the same stuff New York or LA have....

I thought the question was in reference to Dallas and Houston - NOT NY or CA.

I think Dallas has all these stores and a Barneys New York to boot (as does Scottsdale - Barneys coming 2009). So I say Dallas wins.

Stores of various brands mean little...stores will allocate more desirable, higher-end stuff to stores in Manhattan/BH, not Podunk stores in Greenwich or PaloAlto, let alone TX....much like new cars (like 65s) that Merc dealers have sitting on lot in BevHills/SF Peninsula, vs the 100s of MB dealers in Podunk...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, not AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This split us Texans apart.
Some idiot will roll on here and say how Houston or Dallas has superior shoping compared to the 'lesser city' and then the person from the 'lesser city' will say how they're wrong and stupid and how the 'greater city' is better and that will get everyone involved and flaming and fighting...

I guess it was inevitable... I vote for Dallas, as Hypocritical as it looks, i guess I'll defend it against the bozo who will attack it without any real means.
but the majority of us... try and keep it tame? and Defend the 'lesser city' to some extent...

edit: and it begins... -_-

Apparently many people did not pass school. I don't know HOW San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York get mentioned into into a thread that has jack to do with them. To think that you won't find the type of stores that you see in the coasts in metro areas of over 5.5 million people is just simply ignorant.

Anyway, Houston and Dallas do have some good shopping areas that are open air street front types of stores. Dallas has highland park village and Houston has rice village. Both have very upscale stores as well. Both still have impressive indoor facilities (and I dislike malls btw) but both are in the process of building outdoor shopping areas. In fact, there are alot of retail projects going up along Westheimer in Houston from downtown to uptown.

You people should really read up on Dallas's shopping scene because most of you sound pretty stupid. Dallas is considered a fashion capital right along with NYC,LA,and MI. I love Houston, but Dallas has us beat in shopping.
