And again, you can give some reasons why.
Quality of restaurants

I definately see what you mean by infrastructure. I live here in Charlotte and you aint lying. To many small 2 lane roads in a cty of more than 600,000 and growing. And I-85 north of charlotte in concord is only 2 lanes. A 2 LANE INTERSTATE. Two lanes going north and two lanes going south. On an interstate that alot of people pass through on there way from up north, from places like new york. And a place where thousands of people come down for the races, and its not far from concord mills the largest tourist attraction in NC. So I definately see what you mean. BUT I wouldnt call Charlotte ugly.

So how is Austin and SA's infrastructure above Charlotte's? Charlotte has a fairly heavy ridden new light rail line, and a good freeway system. Plus, larger airport than both AUS and SAT.

And quality of restaurants? Seriously? Care to share some examples?

Actually Austin has pretty good light rail. And im talking about highways and main roads. Over here in CLT you have to many main roads where buses and people travel to and from work that are AMAZINGLY tiny. It's getting insane especially in a city that is approaching 700,000. You would think by now the government of Charlotte would try to fix all these tiny roads. You have main roads with little to no street lights, you would be amazed. Im not sayin that there are no small roads in Austin and SA because ive seen my fair share of small country roads in Austin metro but, never did I see main important roads that small over there. Over here in Charlotte it's getting outta hand. Thousands of people moving here from FL and NY flooding the city and still have these tiny roads. If we want to be progressive as a city we gottta fix these roads. But I will admit charlotte has an awesome light rail.

^A lot of the roads here are under the jurisdiction of the state, so go figure.

Austin's light rail is horrible. Have you seen it? For one, it's not even open yet (not open until March 2009). Second, the plans for it are just bad. It is built in such low capacity, and they are using it as a commuter rail.

And those tiny roads are the same throughout the Piedmont Region. Even Atlanta has plenty of them.

Yeah, Metro's first line was not the best, but they couldn't do anything about it. Culberson and friends blocked funding. Still, it gets 45,000 riders a day on only 7.5 miles. DART in Dallas gets 64,000 on 45-miles, for a comparison. The newer lines for Metro have much better designs (overpasses, underpasses, and short subway on the Uptown Line under 610).

I though the whole subway ideal was scrapped for Uptown Park?? I feel the system would be perfect if it was just elevated, but this is Houston.

They can elevate the highways but can't do the same for rail, pfft.

Do you know where the rail station will be in Uptown? I live in the Broadstone Lofts. Will I have to walk very far to get to the rail station? I don't know if I would be willing to walk past Westheimer and I know I won't walk as far as San Felipe.
