Chicago was not directly involved so they have a more objective view point.

Do you know what will end this thread?

Chicago created the skyscraper. 'nuff said. without chicago, there is no new york. at least not like it looks today.
no thats not how its gonna end. This is how. We beat you at your own game

You CANNOT go anywhere in this country and find someone who doesnt know what the Sears Tower is. Mention the name and everyone will know it. Guaranteed. Same goes for the ESB.
They might know the name but not the location. There are a lot of dumb*****es in America.

So what? It's water under (Brooklyn) bridge. There are more pound for pound skyscrapers in New York than in Chicago.

There are very, very few who would agree with you on this one.

Lets go by completed skyscrapers (nobody knows the future of proposed skyscrapers).

NYC:

Empire State Building
Chrysler Building
Trump Building
American International Building
Conde Nast Building
Citigroup Center
Time Square Tower

Chicago:
Hancock Tower
Sears Tower
Trump Building
One Museum Park
Two Prudential Plaza
311 South Wacker
900 North Michicagn
Park Tower
340 on the Park
United Building

You can argue mid-rise, or residential superiority all you want. But when it comes to skyline quality NYC does not compare.

^^That's just going by what you know. Why don't you find a list of recognizable buildings in each skyline from a reputable source.

Absolutely Chicago.

Chicago invented the skyscraper, New York just copied the idea.

Chicago also doesn't have as many hideous "slab" looking projects like you see all over New York. They tore most of theirs down.

^^ LOL, ok... When you can provide me proof that it's just "slabs" then I might believe you. That's exactly what the Empire state building is, along with the Chrysler building...That makes me laugh.

If you could read a little better, you might figure out I was talking about PROJECTS. You know, like Alphabet City and other such lovely scars on the NYC landscape.

What year were those built? It seems like it's been since the 1920's since New York city built a skyscraper with any relevance.

Exactly! They keep putting up cartoon-looking crap, like that hideous W at Times Square.

That kind of garbage doesn't fly in Chicago - they have design standards.
