HMMM ... among all the Southern states, these two most certainly bring up the rear and have much in common. Both are haunted by the ghosts of the Civil Rights era and Jim Crowe. Arkansas' corporate climate is impressive for such a small (population) state, while Mississippi's reputation for literary culture is equally so. Arkansas gave the world Bill Clinton, while Mississippi gave us Elvis. Little Rock and Jackson are about equal IMO. The main difference to me is that Arkansas has the Ozarks while Mississippi has the coast (and casinos!) It really comes down to that preference.

Mississippi is kind of a **** hole I've been there it's hot and unpleasant there but it is nice in some parts it also has good fishing I live in Arkansas and there is great scenery and plenty of things to do the nature is beautiful.but just like most states we have white trash dumbasses and Arkansas gets **** for having uneducated people but it's not true the school I went to I kept a 4.0 gpa and most of us kept it from a 3.0 to a 5.0 so that should end that stereotype at least for my area so if I had to choose where I would live for the next 40 years it would be Arkansas

Apparently the Fayetteville/NW Arkansas area is a little "New South." Mississippi is practically "Old South" through and through, for better or for worse. In this case, I'm going with Arkansas. I've never heard great things about Jackson, but I've heard some nice things about Little Rock. I haven't been to both cities, though.

There are not many lists where Mississippi does not come in 50th of 50 or "DFL" - and this is certainly one of those lists.

One thing Mississippi has is the gulf coast. To me that area is vastly underrated and untapped.

Arkansas.

The one thing that Mississippi has is the Gulfport/Biloxi area which is pretty nice and its in close proximity to New Orleans. Other than that, I would say Arkansas all the way. Jackson MS and Little Rock look similar on paper but Little Rock is actually a nice small city that feels larger than it is.

I agree. People don't think of that area when they think of Mississippi but it is very nice. Pristine white sand beaches, warm water, and easy access to New Orleans. It seems like it would be a great place to be.

They're pretty similar, it really depends on the certain area more than the state over all.

Mississippi also has suburban Memphis, for better or worse. It's actually pretty nice.

I like Mississippi better because of the coast...it has a definite New Orleans flavor.
