As far as the high crime rate, that's not found in San Diego. San Diego's low crime rate makes it more like a Japanese or Canadian city. In fact, the way San Diegans view Atlanta reminds me of how the Japanese view America, a culture of crime and violence and is very dangerous to go to compared to their peaceful homeland. As for the sprawl, San Diego is a sprawling and low-density city, and has just about the same pop. density as Atlanta. And for traffic and pollution, well I guess that makes Beijing feel like an American city?
To be fair, the crime rate for "Atlanta" covers a much smaller area and a much smaller population (500,000) than the crime rate for San Diego (1.2 million people). Atlanta's suburbs have low crime rates. So if you were to include Atlanta's immediate suburbs to reach the same population as the city of San Diego, the over-all crime rate wouldn't be a whole lot higher than San Diego's. It would still likely be higher, but by not as much as the stats seem to indicate at first glance.
I don't know, Clayton County and Dekalb County are suburbs and they have fairly high crime rates as well (Clayton County has a murder rate close to 20 per 100,000).

Decatur does not have a high crime rate. Nor do Dunwoody, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Smyrna, Tucker, and other suburbs needed to put Atlanta's population closer to San Diego's 1.2 million.
San Diego keeps its major crime down in Tijuana. That is my theory about why SD and El Paso have such low crime rates despite literally being right next to some of the most violent cities on the continent; you can away with more crap in Mexico imo.
Yeah, well you add Atlanta and Dekalb and Clayton Counties (Dekalb had over 100 murders last year, Clayton over 50) and you have over 1.2 million. Add up the number of murders and you still get a rate of close to 20 per 100,000. Higher than San Diego.

Why would you ever add only those three areas together? Oh I see...you would choose those three areas to get the statistics that YOU want.
How much do you REALLY know about Atlanta and the surrounding areas? My guess is...very little, based on the information you keep publishing.
