On the list its the South Bronx its basically an open air crime market, Drugs are everywhere and plentyfull, Homicides are a weekly routine, Shootings occur multiple times weekly, Stabbings occur multiple times weekly, Robberies occur multiple times daily, Its very dense, loud, chaotic......and its not even the worse part of the city. Its kinda sad to because young people come to the city with the "safest big city" garbage in their mind and their usually the victims of crime and in one story a woman was moving into the south bronx against her mothers wishes and she was robbed then killed the day she moved in and she was moving into a gentrified house in a BAD area and her mother said she was against it because she knew the area was bad but her daughter thought since she bought a mega expensive house the area was crime free and this is what happened............(sigh) enough lies King Bloomberg

Compton is mostly known because of MTV.
If it wasn't for MTV it wouldn't be mentioned as much.

You must be from the Burbs . Compton was known before . Compton has been the murder capital (per capita) several times . Unless MTV was selling bloods , crips & chicano gangs guns in the 1990's MTV didnt make compton "mostly known" . It was the rise of Gang Violence between the 1980's & 1990's is what make Compton known & made it possible for "gangsta" rappers from Compton to sound believable

But compton isnt a neighborhood of Los Angeles . South Central & Watts are what you would call neighborhoods of Los Angeles

A lot has changed since the 90's. Englewood in Chicago had 81 murders for a population around 50k...in 3 months in 91! I can't imagine what the murder rates in some of the projects were. If anyone knows though, I'd be interested in hearing.
