I dunno, I love the top 3, my 3 favorite cities in the US... not so much LA though, many cities in that gap. I think it is an attitude thing of people there, my general dislike of hollywood/fame followers, etc... and the layout of the city.

I have never been to LA. It just seems like everyone that hates LA hates any big city.

My friend and I are planning a trip sometime in 2009.

Yeah well, I had an idea of it, but was just unimpressed... It is still a cool city, just over hyped I supposed. I wouldn't say it is the #2 best city in the country for sure...Perhaps influential because of hollywood...but just being an overall great city??? its OK.
If you go in just expecting anything, you'll have a good time.

I hated Los Angeles when I first visited from Europe.

I went from NYC to Los Angeles then to San Francisco. I don't know what it is but it just felt like a major downgrade from NYC I guess. After a few more visits, I began to appreciate LA for what it is.

I freakin' love Los Angeles. It has something for everyone, perhaps the city with the largest cultural identity in the world.
