Last night it was drizzeling when I went to bed. This morning I woke up. The birds are singing (I like that). The roses in the front yard are starting to sprout. The air is about 68--and the sun is beginning to break through the clouds. I'm sort of a photography nut--today I'm going to drive to Palm Springs, have lunch in one of the nice outdoor cafes, and then take the Tram up to the mountain. There are still a few patches of snow...I want to get some photos.
When the sun sets, I'll drive back home (about 45 minutes), and tonight I'm going to go see a ballet with my lovely wife.
Los Angeles? Love it or hate it? I tell ya--this is the best place in the world!
I think LA is more fun when exploring the other neighborhoods. I've been there about 5 times in the last year since I was trying to land a job with the LAFD. When I went about a month ago, that was actually the first time that I even rented a car. That was only for a day since I had to drive to Irvine in Orange County for a test. Other times I had friends give me rides, but I was on my own a lot.
I've seen some very different parts. One time I stayed in Studio City with a friend so it was a bit more like the movies with cleaner streets and palm trees everywhere. Another time I was on the outskirts of downtown near MacArthur Park which I heard isn't the best area. (Of course being from Milwaukee I had a fanny pack on ) Then last time I was waiting for a train in South Central and some guy started talking to me. When I mentioned being a firefighter he was telling me about the crime and life in South Central LA. I actually found stuff like that more exciting than looking at stars on the ground at the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
Euros... stop making generalizations about people in the midwest, especially those from cities that are actually very urban. If I used your mindset then I would HATE NYC and think that everyone there is arrogant with very little knowledge. I mean you are so everyone from NYC must be right?

Next time in Los Angeles go to Olveras Street for lunch--its the original street in LA. Then stop by the Bradbury Building--neat, beautiful building and go inside, then make sure you go to Central Market to see the hub bub. After all of that, have a drink at the top of the New Otani Hotel. All of this is in walking distance of Union Station.
Tomorrow is supposed to be 75 -- So I'm packing a picnic lunch and I'm going to the observatory---and maybe I'll go over to the zoo--but probably not---I'm leaving now to see the ballet with my wife.

Sounds fun! I'm looking forward to going with my husband and oldest to admit day at UCLA this weekend and doing a little shopping at the Farmer's Market/Grove and having dinner up there (now I will have even more excuses for weekend trips to L.A., although my son probably will say "Mom, you've been here 4 times this week, I'm 18....").
LA is a city people love to hate. I noticed that people love to blow kisses at SD and SF, though.
