Ferpow my friend,
"low humidity allows heat to escape after sundown."....so greater miami retains heat in atmosphere later in evening.did you go swimming with all of your duds on? Because that could have been your problem pard.

If you are fortunate enough to be healthy and loved, all things being equal.......HUMIDITY.....ruins South Florida......seven months a year.It is that simple.....!

You make a good point. Phoenix has warmer summer night temps compared to Miami but the low humidity make it half-way comfortable. But day temps from late spring to early autumn in Phoenix are extremely hot and no matter how low the humidity is, it is still very uncomfortable. Miami is very warm and humid for over half the year so outdoor living is also compromised. Winters in Miami are very nice and probably the best time of the year to be in Florida. Phoenix has nice winters also though not as comfortable as Miami in my opinion.

West Palm Beach is warmer in winter...but cloudier, more humid and NOT tropical...try Key West.I will take "THE VALLEY OF THE SUN"...in the Winter.

Well I can tell you one gets used to the humidity and Miami is quite pleasent in the winter with low humidty & reasonable temps. I couldn't imagine living in that oven baked desert!

Miami has only been below freezing a few times in recorded history. Snowflakes have been reported in the city once, in 1977. Nights below 40 degrees are rare in Miami.

For the record: In Miami, during the month of January 2009, there were three days on which the temperature did not reach 70 degrees. There was one day on which the temperature did not reach 60 degrees. There were just three nights on which the temperature fell below 50 degrees. The lowest temperature during the month of January 2009 was 42 degrees:

History : Weather Underground

The all-time record low for Miami is 30 degrees.

In Phoenix, during the month of January 2009, there were thirteen days on which the temperature did not reach 70 degrees. There were three days on which the temperature did not reach 60 degrees. There were just eight nights on which the temperature failed to fall below 50 degrees. The lowest temperature during the month of January 2009 was 40 degrees:

History : Weather Underground

The all-time record low for Phoenix is 16 degrees.

As you can see, Miami and Phoenix have similar wintertime temperatures. Phoenix's temperatures are a few degrees cooler, though. Miami does not get a lot of rain in the wintertime, because the dry season coincides with the winter months.

I'd definitely pick Phoenix just because of the nice daytime temperatures in the 60s and 70s and the chilly nights.
Sorry to say but a 15 degree difference in temperature is big when it is outside the generally comfortable ranges! I.E. when temps approach freezing it becomes even more uncomrfotable, and when temps get around body temperature. It's basically the difference between a Chicago style winter and a DC style winter, for those who have been in both.
