Hello everyone,

I was browsing the forums here and I was wondering if you were to compare the winter season climate of Phoenix AZ to Miami FL, of those two cities, which one do you feel has the colder winter temps? I am asking because this is interesting for me. And also, if I could rephrase the question better, which city do you feel has the more tolerable temperatures during winter? And which city would you rather be in in the winter?

I'd take Phoenix myself.
There are several weather sites where you can compare tempertures. I'd like Phoenix better as it is a much dryer climate. It's usually nice during winter just watch out for the heat of summer.

Miami's weather is considerably more consistent than Phoenix. Since Phoenix is a desert city, it can get relatively cold during the winter. Since Miami is in a sub-tropical climate, it's basically always warm, regardless of what time of the year it is.

Give me Miami 150% of the time. Warm weather, day and night, year round. In Phoenix, you can get a sunburn during the day and then freeze your ass off at night.

Phoenix.....not even a contest lol. Phoenix averages 65/43 in January while Miami averages 79/61 in January. Phoenix gets more clear nights and more nights below freezing.

Don't really know what the winter weather is like in Miami, but if the 79 is true I would take Phoenix. I love cold weather...just not too cold.

Phoenix is colder. Both cities are nice in the winter, so I would be happy in either city.

Lol.. 'cold' ? Phoenix is cool in winter, in the shade.. Our average winter temp: 69F and at night: 46F. However.. we don't exactly have the shadiest (figuratively) city. Miami is.. shadier. And our intense desert sun, unfiltered by humid air & clouds.. well, I could advise you to get a thermometer - oven type, and check out how warm our desert sun is.. even in 'winter' Often our winter yards & streets are bathed in 100 degree + sunny Winter 'chill' lol. Yes, the evenings cool quickly.. great sleeping weather..!!

Anyway, either place is warm for winter snowbirds. I think many prefer the sunny warm dry weather.

Phoenix is much cooler than Miami since it is much farther north. In-fact, Phoenix is cooler than Los Angeles during winter. Frost can occur at least a few times each winter in Phoenix while both Miami & LA experience frost once in 10 yrs at the most. Miami is the most tropical major U.S. city [minus Hawaii]. Winter maximums average in the mid-upper 70's in Miami while Phoenix is in the upper 60's. But winter night temps are considerably colder in Phoenix [mostly in the 40's] when Miami is near 60F.

.
Miami winter's are much warmer. Miami is actually in a true tropical climate. With being a tropical climate winters are not cold at all most days will be in the 70s. Maybe 5 days a year will it ever get down to the 40s and if it is ever that cold it is only for a few hours in the early mourning hours.
