Lack of education,living conditions,culture,mentality and accent--IMO

No offense intended to anyone who takes offense to this.

Too many northerners down here complaining that it is not like the place they could not stand to live in any longer.

I don't hate the South. I love many things about it. The thing I did hate, though, during my tenure as a temporary Southerner, was all the people asking me where I went to church. No one has ever asked me that in the other places I've lived (MN, CA, DE, DC), but people asked it all the time in my VA town.

I don't hate the South. I don't hate anywhere. I may not consider it as a place to live or like it, but I respect the culture, lifestyle, and people of the area. I don't know how somebody can hate a place they haven't lived in especially (which is most of the haters). I always think, "What did that place do to you?"

I find it harsh to say that I hate the South, but I don't foresee myself ever living there again. At least where I lived I found it too socially/religiously conservative, the heat wore on me, and I found "Southern hospitality" to be a bit of a fraud. That said, I went to high school and college in the South, so I have many friends there from those days. I do miss the BBQ and catfish available in Arkansas.
