Hmm. I just calculated SF's 34 neighborhoods' walkability average (86%) and Chicago's top 34 neighborhoods' walkability average (83%) and it looks like SF is more walkable than Chicago.
That explains a lot about why people describe SF as similar to an East Coast city, which tend to be more walkable. I suppose Chicago's superior public transit system makes up for it?
Don't underestimate all of the hills in S.F. they can make it a bit more of a challange to walk around.
It isn't THAT much better, you can still get around. Chicago quality and expansiveness kills it though. I believe a higher percentage of people in SF actually use it though.
That's cool. Yeah, Chicago is "huge" according to my friend from Philly. I never knew it was that big until I started visiting other cities, especially on the East Coast. Of course, NYC blows Chicago away in terms of size. It's like twice as big, geographically! It's downtown (including midtown) is roughly twice the size, too. Crazy!

Kid, since you've been to New York you shoudl know that there is no "downtown New York". There is downtown Manhattan and there is downtown Brooklyn but not downtown New York. And honestly besides Obama and Blago Chicago is very seldom brought up - there is not much to talk about as there is not much happening in Chicago on national or international scale.

Kid, don't say things like that. They make people laugh at you.
And we love SF. There are not that many people in NY that would badmouth SF. It's a great, beautiful city and even though much smaller it is very similar to New York in culture and vibe. I think of SF an East Coast type city on the West Coast.

That's so funny. I said something just like that, and you insulted me for it. You fraud.
Which would you rather live in? I've seen some discussions but no polling on the forum.
Chicago for me. San Francisco is the type of the city I would like to visit but not want to live in.
