Battle of "number two" US cities: LA, Chicago, SF, DC, Houston or Boston? (downtown, largest)

I can't believe Chicago is winning this poll, first of all. And I also can't believe DC is getting such little respect. Finally, I can't believe Boston has more than double the votes as DC and we've got nearly as much as Los Angeles!
I think we've got a case for being the #5 or #6 city in the country, but not the #2 haha.
Christ! I really really hate these "important" discussions here on C-D. Seriously, everyone on here should feel honored that the rest of the world isn't even as half as ignorant as us when it comes to knowing other countries' geography and culture. Hell, go abroad and ask a foreigner if they heard of any US city of 1.5 million or more and, more than likely, they have.
Why doesn't everyone just calm down, look in the mirror, and say "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone-it...people like me."
LA and Chicago are the only possible choices. On population alone, metro LA is 12.8 million; metro Chicago is 9.5 million. Number 4, metro Dallas, is only 6.3 million.
I go with LA though, since it is more populous, and has a huge global cultural influence with the entertainment industry being based here. LA also has a larger economy than Chicago, ranking third globally behind Tokyo and NYC (Chicago is #4).
Washington is important as the nation's capital, but it really isn't uniquely important for any other reason, and both by population and economic importance, it lags well behind LA and Chicago.
LA is a large, unloved beast, but it's importance is hard to deny...

I agree that Boston is not number 2 in the country. But as far as the history of this country goes, Boston could easily make it's case for top 2 if not number 1.
It is also easily one of the most influential cities in the nation.
Culture sea changes that were started in Boston:
American Revolution
American Industrial Revolution
Abolitionist Movement
Transcendentalist Movement
American Literary Movement
^^ I think the only city that can fight Boston for as far as history is probably Philadelphia. Maybe New York. But Philly and Boston I think are 1-2 in this department.
*waits for Philadelphians to come in screaming that Boston and Philly aren't on the same level for history*
