Some major street corners in Chicago have lowrise stores or mid-rise apartment buildings with a store on the bottom, and apartments on the top. We call it a "storefront". An example would be on the googlemap link of 63rd & Artesian below. But one thing I notice when looking at alot of other cities, is that some of these places have nothing on most of the corners except things like gas stations, autoshops, and fast food chains. Every city has "generic corners" in it and Chicago has generic corners like any other cities, but some cities seem to have an abundance of non-discript corners.
For example, alot of intersections Ive seen while visiting Atlanta seemed to have a KFC or autoshop, but lacked brick structured apartments on the corner. And for someone like me, I couldnt live somewhere that doesnt have cornerstores or storefronts, so which cities have similar construction on the corners as Chicago?

I'm not really understanding what you mean, but our corner stores in Texas don't look like the ones pictured in Chicago. We have corner stores, but they are built different. Probably similar to the ones you saw in Atlanta.
There are a few down here in Atlanta. Located in Downtown and a few in the closer in Neighborhoods, and theres one in each city I about to list
East Point
College Park
Decatur
Then in some of the suburbs there are Gas Stations located at the entrance of groups of neighborhoods on the Minor Arterial roads.
I think pretty much all cities with a gridded downtowns have a few corner stores located in there limits.
