It's actually most popular in the south followed by the plains and areas of CA and AZ. (The regions of the teams that make it most often) You may never here about it in NM, but there are large areas of the country who follow the CWS pretty regularly.

I'm sure ESPN (who broadcasts every game) could provide the viewer ratings.

Which makes it a regional sport, much like pig hurling and college soccer.

I can assure you that the College World Series is NOT that big a deal in the South, either. Baseball just isn't a big sport in most universities, and school's out anyway by the time the CWS takes place. By the time the CWS starts, people around here are more concerned with Little League and MLB. Most university baseball diamonds have seating for only a few thousand (or even a few hundred) and are nonetheless largely empty.

So Omaha has the College World Series, and bully for Omaha. But the CWS is really small beans compared to having a major Division I NCAA program like in ABQ and all of the professional sports in Charlotte.

I voted for my hometown of Charlotte. I used to live outside of the Duke City in Rio Rancho. That area is actually more beautiful than even people on this forum give it credit for. Each of the three have many wonderful things going for it. However, I do feel Charlotte has a better chance of improving in this recession that the other two. That does not mean the Queen City is not in some mess. Btw, very nice pics of Omaha.
