-SLC 190k population Vs 550k (ABQ)is a larger city feel?--SLC 1.1 million metro residence is larger then ABQ 900k metro residence.
-Better Shopping? How so?--More malls and more strip malls to shop in.
-Albuquerque has lower crime rate actually, do the research.--Only because it's smaller

Everything that you said is essentially "better" is nothing but a fabricated lie with no sources to back it up.--And where are your sources sir?

Albuquerque is unique because

-Distinct Cuisine / green chili
-Far more diverse and cultural - Native American/White/Hispanic
-Worlds Largest Tramway
-Casinos
-World largest Balloon Fiesta
-Sandia Mountains (far more impressive imo)
-old town/nob hill/historic route 66
-more diverse religion wise
-better architecture
-cleaner air (SLC has smog)
-better nightlife / restaurant scene
-A city with a lot more pride and character

I can go on, and on , and on, all day long, SLC is a city for a certain type of person = white morman

I'm sure it does have qualities beyond that, but for the most part, that's what dominates the city and makes it what it is....No thanks.
My comments are at the top. Maybe you need to do some more research. Maybe a quick trip could show you that SLC is higher up when it comes to city living.

What good does a light rail system do in such a small town like SLC? Albuquerque does just fine on transportation.

How exactly so?

Comparing a metro that is 200k bigger is silly, also the fact you are comparing metro's to the actual cities is something I find quite amusing.

What are some upscale places / malls / boutiques that SLC has exactly that makes it a better shopping destination?

Crime: Only because it's smaller
What?? Abq 550k city limits has less crime than SLC 190k city limits. A bigger city with less crime is MUCH better than a small city with MORE crime.

When people are actually using the light rail for work & other activities, it's very useful.

How exactly so?

More vibrant, more restaurants, 2 malls. What's in DT ABQ thats so special?

Dude, so if we're comparing Atlanta or Miami (which have a smaller population in the city limits) to ABQ, your saying ABQ has the upper-hand?

I didn't say it's a shopping destination, but it has more malls then ABQ.

Oh brother
What's so hard to understand? SLC is a larger city..

Sandias don't compare. And I agree in that SLC has got more of a downtown.

Albuquerque tops SLC in everything, what exactly does SLC offer? Utah Jazz? a salt lake? What exactly makes it unique over albuquerque?

Lets not forget the cities population is significantly smaller than Albuquerques. Albuquerque is diverse, culturual, unique, and offers everybody something

SLC you have to be a specific kind of person to live there, and that's the truth, people who say otherwise is in denial, and not seeing things realistically.

Don't let one delusional homer's ignorrant posts reflecting little experience outside of ABQ shape your image of the city. I love ABQ but I won't oversell it either as I'm open minded enough to see other cities attributes as well. SLC's mountain setting and recent development along with it's downtown improvements are impressive. Clearly nobody is taking this poster seriously anyway and it's not a good reason to hate on ABQ.

You guys make me laugh, defending SLC out of pure denial because you don't want to admit and accept the facts that SLC simply doesn't compare to Abq. Keep trying to convince yourselves with lies that SLC is better than it really is. I see right through it tho and I say it how it is, I'm not afraid of speaking the truth, no need to sugar coat anything the fact of the matter is SLC is great if you are white and morman and that's about it, Albuquerque takes the cake on this by a landslide in each and every aspect and that is the truth! Wake up and smell the coffee, this is a no brainer! When was the last time you heard somebody say they want to go to Salt lake city for a vacation, the place lacks in anything interesting what so ever and you guys know it! Just are too afraid to admit it because you know I am right, unless you are white or morman I don't think anybody in there right mind would choose SLC over Abq.

Before Salt Lake City revamped that I-15/I-80 intersection stretch for the Olympics I would vote ABQ. SLC stepped up their infrastucure over the years. Delta has a hub there so flying out of SLC is much easier for further and more domestic destinations. Both are simplistic cities that offer little IMO. After a few months in each city I would imagine ppl would be bored stiff.

A more appropriate thread would have been Reno Vs Salt Lake City.
