Best skyline: I'll probably go with Detroit here. Dallas's skyline is cool and it does get points for that lighted sphere thing and the tower with the green lights, but Detroit has several architectural gems in its skyline.
Best food: I dunno.
Best weather: Gets too cold in Detroit for me, so I'll take Dallas.
Best transportation: I'll vote Dallas because at least it has light rail.
Are you serious the only decent buildings are the Renaissance Center the rest of them are just old and ugly!
Some of us like "old and ugly" buildings...LOL...and other things...LOL....but seriously, many older skyscrapers just exude class and permanence; many glass sheathed, bulky towers, just have a different appeal or vibe to them. I like both, but many older skyscrapers were more ornately built than, some modern towers. Just my two cents...opinion....
best transportation
Neither has much transit. Funny how big oil owns Dallas and big autos own Detroit and neither has mass transit.
Not true. Dallas has the DART rail. Right now 2 lines are open with the 3rd opening next month and a 4th opening in 2013 (which will connect DFW and Dallas).
Detroit is a city I feel sorry for. Its a dying city. The economy has hit rock bottom. Even Commerica bank's HQ left Detroit for Dallas in 2005.
I really wish Detroit could find some good fortune soon.

Skyline - both about the same. Detroit has the Renn Center and all the classic and art deco architecture, while Dallas has the Reunion Tower and more modern architecture.
Food - if the food in Dallas is anything like Longhorn's Steak, than Dallas. However, Detroit is known to have good Greek, Polish, and Italian food. It's a tough call.
Weather - Dallas, not as cold as Detroit.
Transportation - Dallas, especially when all the proposed DART rail lines are completed.
