Actually a lot do come to shop in NYC because they get good deals because the Dollar isn't as strong as their currency.

And you know this because you're in NYC and speak to them?

What Possibly New York City have that Dallas, Atlanta, and Houston don't have!

The same can be said for Europe. A lot of people come to Europe for luxury goods because it's cheaper, since a lot of the designer stuff is made here.

Exactly...that's a very good point. That's one of the main reasons why they shop here.

I didn't like shopping in Greece because the dollar isn't worth as much as the euro. But in Turkey, forget about it, we bought Turkish rugs like no tomorrow since the lira is worth very little

It works both ways. You guys come here because your currency is worth more than the dollar, but we also go there to get better deals. There's no way I would have bought Turkish rugs here in NY. We got amazing deals over there.

I believe it depends on what country you're in.

The point is that people come from everywhere to shop in NYC. Why else is is so difficult for me to get into stores??? I avoid stores in Manhattan like the plague. Forget about Century 21. Everest Climb has never shopped here, and it's obvious. I bet he'll say next that window shopping on 5th avenue during Christmas-time isn't popular at all, lol.

I would definitely disagree. South Coast Plaza is not entirely upscale (Sears and other stuff), and Bal Harbor Shops is tiny.

The best mall in NJ is NOT in Paramus or Bergen County.

The best suburban mall is the Mall at Short Hills. It's probably the most upscale mall in the U.S.

It's the only mall on earth with all four major upscale department stores (Saks, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom) in one location.

Check out the list of stores. Is there a mall on earth with more upscale stores in one location?

The Mall at Short Hills

As for the metro NY equivalent of Bal Harbor, the same company has the same type of outdoor mall in the NY area. In fact, the NY version is the original, and has higher sales per square foot. It's called the Americana at Manhasset. It's on the North Shore of Long Island, on the Miracle Mile corridor (just past Queens).

Americana Manhasset

When we're talking about smaller, boutique-laden centers, there probably isn't a center on earth more upscale than the Americana Manhasset.

Also, the Americana does not just have store branches for its various boutiques. It's stores are almost all flagship sized, and are often the largest North American location outside of Manhattan (or sometimes, third behind Manhattan and Beverly Hills).

Among the flagship sized stores at the Americana:

Cartier
David Yurman
Zegna
Fendi
Armani
Vuitton
Michael Kors
Oscar de la Renta
Prada
Ferragamo
Van Cleef & Arpels
Versace
