I got laughed at and called paranoid after posting on a BB a couple of years ago, about where this country is heading, in terms of the economy and blight.
If other major US cities look like this, then we are in trouble.
This video were taken almost 3 years ago. It has only gotten much worse.
Just hope it's not a preview of what's to come in this country.
Actually, Gran Torino made Detroit look better and it wasn't actually filmed in Detroit. It was filmed in the city of Highland Park, which is inside Detroit and worse. Actually, the film made it look to be not that bad(except for the ending), considering what much of it really looks like and how dangerous it really it is.
I really don't know of any other major city that looks like Detroit, except for New Orleans, only because of Hurricane Katrina and what I have seen on the news. Talking about visually.
why dont they bulldoze stuff like that? you know the city, just like other cities, is spending millions on useless projects. why not spend that and level the place?

The City of Detroit(government) is useless when it comes to doing any cleaning up. Arson has gone up too on some of these decaying homes and businesses. The property taxes and insurance rates in Detroit are outrageous too.
This crap has been going for years here with the corruption. Although, lately, the city has gotten rid of some of the leaders that were taking bribes, murder, etc... We have a new Mayor. Maybe that will help some, but I don't see it happening in my lifetime.
The city really never recovered from the 1967 riots.
Where else can you buy a house for $1?
