I think you are correct; however, I think the Northeast US will see more of a building boom...IMHO.

Is the Chicago Spire ever going to happen now?
I guess no body knows till the recession is over.

I'd rather see a bunch of urban neighborhood development than see skyscrapers for their own sake. I think that denser urban neighborhoods near a city center often offer a better lifestyle than a collection of skyscrapers.

Yeah these skyline wars are always going to only have one result no matter what year or what century it is in the US. Chicago VS. NYC. That sums it up for us.

However, I really do wish that Houston steps up it's game with the skyline, it's a great size, but it can be bigger, it has to get bigger and taller than what it is now...

Most people aren't aware of how much Seattle's skyline could grow in the near future. While as of now, almost everything is on hold. Once the demand and economy picks up, Seattle's number of buildings 400 FT or above could double in the near future. Scroll down to See Seattle's proposed, under construction, and approved buildings 400 Ft or above.

List of tallest buildings in Seattle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

While the dates aren't very accurate on that list, it will show you a scale of what Seattle has planned in the near future, Including the 1000+ FT Emerald City Tower. By eye, it wouldn't be exaggerating to say that Seattle's skyline would get fairly close to doubling in the near future. Like I said, Not enough people know about the scale of what Seattle could easily get in the near future. And keep in mind that the list above is only for buildings 400 FT and above, there are still plenty more high rises in the 300 FT and shorter range that Seattle could also easily get in the near future.

Definitely not anything as grand that has happened in the last decade there.
But if you think about it, Miami has a very livable downtown like a real city should have like NY and CHI etc.

See most American City downtowns just have offices where people go to work and then drive back out into the suburbs to live. Miami is following the trends of cities like New York and Chicago where you can actually live downtown in apartments/condo's like a true city.

I really love our country, and I know we're in a recession and our economy needs to pick up for us to safely continue our large skyscraper projects but I really hope we build supertalls all across the country. I have no preference on what city should and shouldn't get one. I just want us to keep what we started. We gave the world it's first skyscraper in Chicago, and I do NOT want to see us playing second fiddle to China EVER.

I really hope we pick up the pace and get started on some great projects.
