In 1972 the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex was known as North Texas. So the North Texas Commission decided to combine metropolitan and complex and came up with Metroplex. The North Texas Commission copyrighted the term Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

There are hundreds to do for NYC, so I'll do Long Island. Here are some random facts I looked up.
1. In 2001, Long Islanders spent a total of 51.3 million dollars on flowers for their landscaping.
2. More 7-11 coffee is purchased on Long Island than in CA.
3. Long Island's population is considerably higher than about 1/3 of other states' populations.
4. Long Island cops are the highest paid in the country. Starting salary is around 100k.

4. The Bronx has recreational activities like horseback riding, golfing, sailing, fishing, private tennis courts, swimming and more throughout Van Cortlandt Park, Pelham Bay Park and City Island.
5. The Bronx has their own hiking and biking routes called The Bronx Greenway.
