New York and California deserve every bit of attention that they get. However it is tiring to hear about them all the time and that attention does cause people to miss out on some real gems of states/cities in this country.

Then I suppose from your theory, Texas and its largest cities are not "overrated" either.

Otherwise, you can't apply this theory to some places, but not others. Doesn't make sense.
