Done it plenty of times myself, speed dial works wonders!

Besides, the security at most places will stop you and ask if you need them to call a cab. Plus the APD are really good at stopping folks. I won't act like people don't drive in this town, but it's not like their aren't options readily available for everyone to take advantage of. People would have you think there aren't.

I never said there were no options if you were referring to me. I said the options are very limited because these areas with bars/restaurants are all spread out.

It sounds like your an amazing drunk, however not everyone is that coherent while under the influence.

Doesn't Atlanta have a decent public transportation system? Do the rails not connect people from neighborhoods to entertainment hubs? I know Houston is already trying to boost development of entertainment centers (by that I mean tings like clubs, bars, music venues, etc) and dense neighborhoods around its future LT tracks.

no offense to anyone but the public transportation here is a bit sketchy outside of weekday rush hours.

Proof please? MARTA is just fine. It's safe any time of the day and anyone says it isn't safe at night probably hasn't spent much time (if any) on it at night.

It does. The big problem is the 2am to 5am shut down. It wasn't a big problem when the clubs didn't close until 4 or never here, you could just wait around until the train started up again. Now you have to take a cab if you live in the city or do "other things" until 5 if you want to take the train.

I can't. WPMEADS will just have to take the marta at 1am one night next time he/she visits.

I've been on the Marta to get to the airport and it is convenient for certain areas and time frames in my opinion. But overall the system is not yet large enough to accommodate most of the city. Hopefully the beltline will fix that although I have my reservations about portions of that project.

I would think it would be safer than driving home completely trashed.

Didn't I just explain that it's a problem since it shuts down between 2am and 5am?

Really it's a matter of willingness and perception of how well MARTA works. If I use the train on a night out it's a combination of Train + Bus or Train + Taxi if I can't walk from the station to where I'm going. Whether a lot of people do is irrelevant since there is a big difference between "can't" and "don't".
