You said capitol which refers to the building. So are you asking if Texas has a better state capitol building than Atlanta?

Otherwise, if you're comparing cities, Austin is better than Atlanta at what? And who decided that Atlanta is the best big city capital? I love Atlanta, but there are a lot of people who would say that Boston is a better city. Or Denver. Or Raleigh. Or Annapolis.

Atlanta has never been the best capital city in America. I love living in Atlanta, but IMHO Atlanta is a crappy capital city as the State Capitol grounds seem completely disconnected from the rest of the city. Austin is a much better capital city, but I also think that there are even better capitals like Madison and Olympia. The best examples of large cities that are also capitals would be Boston, Indianapolis, and Denver--where the state capitols seem to be more integrated with surrounding neighborhoods and more prominently featured in their respective cities.

I like Atlanta and all, but this question is way too subjective. Best in what?

And South-To-West, you are SO right about the Gold Dome. It's as if it was thrown in there, cast aside.

I'd say that Boston is one of the better state Capitals. I like Nashville too.

yeah...leaving out some heavy hitters...

now if you were arguing best in the south...

I'd still say no? Why would Austin possibly be better than ATL??? in WHAT? I can't think of a single category it might be better in other than live music or popularity with hipsters...

I'm from Austin but, Atlanta has more things to do overall then Austin. I guess Atlanta would be the superior state capital.
