It is when your city is not a top 20 metro. Atlanta is a top 10 metro BTW.

Atlanta all day, but if Charlotte wants to win this contest then give it to them. With the "Queen City" Kitty Cats aka Carolina Panthers starting the NFL season 0-3, I think the people up there need something to be happy about......But the Uptown skyline must be the only skyline in Charlotte, the little time I was there I only saw the one in the pictures... where is downtown Charlotte?

I guess- tell that to Pittsburgh which is probably top ten on many peoples list (not top 20 metro either). And population has nothing to do with anything there are plenty of larger metros that have horrible skylines for their size ie. Phoenix, LA, etc....

I've always thought DT ATL had some of the ugliest clusters of buildings. I'm not the biggest fan of Charlotte but I voted for Charlotte. BOA is tough to beat and other buildings to me seem more quality than those in DT ATL.

Im a little confused....after looking at some pictures of the Charlotte skyline on another website it appears as though the Downtown skyline and the Uptown skyline are the same thing?? If so this thread title is mis-leading, it leads one to believe that a particular section of Charlotte's skyline matches up with a particular section of Atlanta's skyline, when in truth that is Charlotte's only skyline, put up against one of Atlanta's 4 skyline's.......

We call our downtown "uptown." We've got some mini clusters in SouthPark, Ballantyne, etc., but the CBD skyline is our primary skyline by far.

That is funny. I never thought about that. Atlanta has a downtown, midtown and a Uptown(Buckhead). All three could compete with Uptown Charlotte. When I glanced at that first pic of Charlotte, I actually thought I was looking at Midtown ATL.
