It's obvious that when you include Midtown and Buckhead, Charlotte is no match for Atlanta, but I think downtown Atlanta's skyline is somewhat comparable to uptown Charlotte's:
The second pic of Downtown Atlanta is very beautiful and does Atlanta justice but after seeing Charlotte's 2nd & 4th pic there's no way I can't choose it.
Well, it would be very convenient for the purposes of this thread to pretend like Atlanta's Midtown and Buckhead don't exist. However...they do. Sorry.
Charlotte is beautiful, but Downtown Atlanta is much more densely built and is much larger. It's really no comparison. Uptown Charlotte is more comparable to Midtown Atlanta.

Who's pretending as if they don't exist? They do, but they are distinct skylines. As I said initially, you include all of Atlanta's skylines, there's absolutely no contest. But I think downtown Atlanta and uptown Charlotte are somewhat comparable.
Charlotte certainly benefits from having all of its eggs in one basket. Atlanta's eggs (3x as many as Charlotte) are in three different baskets. It is amazing how tough it is to chose when Midtown and Buckhead are taken out of the equation. I voted for Charlotte, but Midtown and Downtown Atlanta are soooo close together. Buckhead is the only "distant" skyline IMO. Also, Atlanta's tallest is in Midtown (eventhough the crown makes it look like a building still under construction).
Anyways, it is amazing how Charlotte's main skyline is somewhat comparable to Atlanta's main. Uptown and downtown also have very similar office spaces as well (with downtown Atlanta being slightly larger).

I guess I'm missing the point here. "Cover your left eye so that you don't see Midtown Atlanta and Buckhead...just the downtown part of Atlanta. Now look at the entirety of Charlotte with BOTH eyes. Oh, wow! Look! Charlotte wins."

It is the same reason why Atlanta (more buildings and taller than Philly) still lost in a skyline battle against Philly. I voted for Atlanta in that thread, however linear skylines are hated on city-data. Especially linear "beachy" looking skylines with very little density.
I personally NEVER would have started a thread such as this, but it is an interesting one. If Charlotte wins this thread, that would mean that Uptown Charlotte has the best downtown skyline in the traditional South. How embarrassing for the "A".

Who says Charlotte wins? That's what the poll is for.
But if you believe downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead all legitimately constitute one big skyline, then I can see why you'd think it's an unfair comparison. Most people would probably disagree, at least as far as Buckhead is concerned. The break between downtown and Midtown isn't massive or anything, but noticeable enough to where there they can be considered two distinct clusters.
