Yeah, some people just prefer historic architecture to modern, which is completely a matter of preference.
I actually like when neighborhoods have a nice contrast between historic and modern, but there does need to be sensitivity to the surrounding context (especially concerning garage-fronted townhomes, which thankfully seem to finally be on their way out in Philly).It's not always an easy task (or cheap), but with some imagination, new architecture can really augment existing historic architecture.
