Florida pro-sports fans are fair weather...no doubt. When the teams are winning, the stadiums are packed. When they are losing, people spend their money elsewhere. This is definitely not the case for college football, but for pro it is. I think for pro this is the case in many cities actually. Only a few cities are really crazy about their pro teams and would support them when their management isn't putting winners on the field. I don't even think the Jets and Giants would sell out like Green Bay or Buffalo would when they are having bad years. The Rays were hot last year and had major attendance, the Magic are hot this year and Orlando is going into this season with major hype. So, yeah it does depend on how the team is doing.
It's true for one team in college football. The Miami Hurricanes fans sucks. That was terrible on Saturday.
Florida, College football is big. UM,UF,FSU,USF. College Baseball is pretty big with UF FSU and UM. Basketball over the years has been decent. Pro sports football is the most popular with three teams. Basketball is pretty good too. Marlins and Rays are decent with their low pay roll and the NHL teams have had there on and off years. (mostly off) But overall Florida likes it sports. Also I would argue Florida has the best high school Football and Baseball in the nation.
I'd argue right with you in regards to Texas having the best high school football and baseball in the nation.
Not only that but the, Miami Heat winning the Championship in 06, the Orlando Magic going to the Finals last year, the Tampa Bay Bucs winning in 03, and the Tampa Bay Rays going to the World Series last year.
NC or FL. FL for their football and NC for their basketball. Duke vs UNC basketball is insane. I laugh when I see Arkansas tied with NC. A lot of people obviously dont know NC and it's basketball.
Why was Texas left off??? It seems to be obvious winner in the South. If your referring to the Southeast it's a coin flip between Georgia and Florida IMO.
FL cant even begin to compare to NC in basketball. Come on now.
True. But as of LATE, the Gators have 2 Football Championships, and 2 Basketball Championships, in the last 4yrs. That's AMAZING. I'm not even really a Gators fan, I'm a Texas Longhorns fan, but you have to admit, in the last couple of years Florida has been dominating the college sports scene.
