Since when are Europeans the moral compass for the World?
I wonder how many small cities in Europe the average American can name.
I lived in London for a year...and I never met anyone in Europe who had never heard of Atlanta. I thinking being a Summer Olympics host city pretty much created a worldwide name for Atlanta.
I would also say that most Europeans have heard of San Francisco, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., Miami, New Orleans, Boston, etc.

Yeah, Atlanta is great enough to be internationally known but the Olympics helped Atlanta be a household name lol.
I also agree that NYC, LA, and Chicago aren't the only US cities that are known around the world.
lmao, the Europeans I spoke with only knew of NY, LA, and Chicago. Austin might as well be a small town to them.
Well, that's probably because Austin is a small town. If you were to run in to Europeans who were involved in the music industry, they would have probably heard of some of Austin's music festivals or its music scene. I don't mean to harp on one topic, but SXSW draws 1800 bands from all over the world. Google SXSW, and while you at it, Austin City Limits, Austin Film Festival, and C3. Small towns can have international festivals. The Canne Film Festival would be a good example. Small towns can also be very interesting places with a lot of character. I'm trying to understand why you keep putting a city down that you seem to know next to nothing about?
No they don't.
They usually expect people abroad to know Texas, but not to know a lot about the individual cities.
I think Dallas may be the most world-renowned city in Texas because of:
1. Dallas...one of the most successful and longest-running shows in American prime-time television history, and also hugely successful across the world.
And it's not just that. People just know about it. We do not have a primate city, we have many important cities in this country. It seems that in America we are in our own world and want to think that life only revolves around a few cities and states(depending on who and where you are), but I have talked to people from Britain to Brazil to South Africa and they know about Texas, Ohio, Florida and even more places. Now they may not always know what we want them to know or think they should know(which I think is what gets us confused about how educated other countries are about the USA) but they know. So to say they don't know about cities is a bit untrue. Besides, how can they not with American culture bearing down on nearly every country through our music, television and food? Now whether every person you talk to is educated enough is a good question.
