We know...the point is that crime isn't uniform throughout a large city, so quoting crime rates and raw numbers doesn't give a true picture of a particular location within a city. Anyone who lives in a large city understands this concept. One area might have a very low criminal element, while another area of the same city might be very dangerous. There are even smaller areas within high-crime areas that are considered safe.

Coral Gables is a very nice area of Miami, and I'm pretty sure that crime isn't an issue there.

^^^ I understand that. I said that I would feel WAY more comfortable sending my child to UNC than a palce like Miami. And then, another poster said that crime in Miami is a "smidge" higher than in Durham, which is why I put up those stats, because that's not the case.

Tallahassee is great place for college. It's not so small as an isolated college town, not so big as to have big city problems.

Excellent recreational, educational, civic and community opportunities. The beach is close enough to be weekend getaway, not so close as to be a major distraction. Tallahassee and the Panhandle is also by far the most scenic part of Florida.
