PHX is not getting bigger. The unfinished developments on the outskirts are sad reminders that they way overshot it in PHX. The place is artificial. They have banks and gas stations on highway corners out there where you would expect neighborhoods to follow. Instead its only the paved entrance to a would-be subdivison. I've seen so many unfilled strip malls all over the place. If a gigantic, unsustainble and artificial strip mall of a 'city' appeals to people then so be it. But i dont see it happening in the long run...

Of course it is. In addition, it's great that there are only paved entrances to nothing rather than more subdivisions. Contrary to many peoples' beliefs, many in Phoenix are happy that there isn't much construction at the outskirts now. There is plenty of land still available inside the Phoenix city limits (and its current suburbs) to grow the population. I only see Phoenix continuing to densify in the future. BTW, It doesn't sound like you even live in Phoenix. As far as these "sad reminders" quotes are concerned, thanks, but no thanks. They are quickly becoming tiresome and sad reminders themselves.

If Phoenix is artificial then Vegas is too right? They have less sources of water too. I guess if we had crap tables and more casinos then our existence would be justified in your eyes. Your idea of this vast unsustainable wasteland with no appeal just doesn't mesh with reality. If Phoenix isn't for you that's fine but why root so actively against it? Why does it bother you so much that many people love the city?
Would like to see the CSA numbers, which I always prefer for accuracy Balt-Washington should be around 10 million by 2025 its 8.3 million now.
Won't be surprised if Washington-Baltimore will become one MSA by 2025 myself. If it happens, DFW will actually be 5th. Now as far as CSA. I think DFW could pass San Francisco/San Jose sometime in the 2010s if the population growth remains the same.
Reality is how Phoenix wastes immense amounts of water to keep their stupid artificial lawns, pools, and water fountains.
Sad reminders? Of how much you lost on your house in PHX? Oh sorry... for you.
I could care less about crap tables and casinos. You two see through my eyes? Really?
"Why does it bother you so much that many people love the city?"
Mostly because Phoenix represents much of what I think is wrong with this country. I guess i'm just not in tune with the major mentality of America... (i.e. our future generations are so screwed.)

You are so way off base, and why the flaming? You sound very angry, vindictive, and disgruntled, and now based on your comments above, I am having a very hard time finding credibility with what you are saying.
In addition, (not that this has ANYTHING to do with this thread), I haven't lost anything on my house.
Lastly, before you go pointing fingers and start trying to figure out what is wrong with the rest of this country, you may want to start with yourself first.
35 years ago people would have laughed if you said Phoenix would have 4.5 million people in 2009. Sorry you have such a hard time wrapping your head around the fact that more people like Phoenix than dislike it. The numbers don't lie. Keep thinking of it as an uninhabitable wasteland if you will but there are a lot of people who feel differently. BTW Phoenix's water situation is much more sustainable than Vegas.
He's not the one in this thread with anger issues. Moving along...
