I guess I'm missing the joke, because Detroit is a major metropolitan area and historically one of the country's music epicenters.

That's fine, but the city of Philadelphia demolishes the city of Detroit in nightlife. Then in metro areas, Philadelphia has Atlantic City. Enough said. I'm not saying Detroit has bad nightlife, but Philadelphia is much larger in every aspect, and is generally rated among the best cities for nightlife. Philadelphia, is also a music epicenter, sir. Also, constantly rated top 5 beer cities.

have you actually experienced Detroit's nightlife? I "hear" (meaning I'm not saying its true) that Philly is more of a bar/pub type of place....Detroit is straight up club type of place and very underground. Most people are actually surprised at what our nightlife has to offer. Philly a music epicenter? that's a first. Detroit is known for music. Still this day you can actually go to like greektown and see people perform. No not like generic mime or tin man I mean sing like any artists you'd hear on the radio (actually better in most cases). Does Philly have something like that?

Acuatlly, Philly was a huge music hub in the 70s. Gamble & Huff produced the Philly sound with a treasure trove of familiar hits: PIR Catalog

I don't have a "dog" in this supposed fight, however. Detroit is a large city and I'm sure it has enough going on to keep anyone entertained. I am posting only to provide some background on Philly's place in music history, in case some have forgotten.
