Yeah, it's easily NJ. That's why I'm always shocked when I hear people complain about NJ Transit ... I always say "what are you comparing it to? Have you used public transportation anywhere else?"

I don't know, I'm just assuming.
Rhode Island has RIPTA operating buses statewide, and the MBTA operating commuter rail to Boston. Delaware I'm less sure about, though SEPTA has at least some coverage there.

I agree with the concensus that NJ has the most complete statewide system. Nearly 300,000 daily commuter rail riders, 600,000 daily bus riders, 250,000 PATH riders plus three light rail systems (I don't know the ridership figures off my head) and private express bus and local jitney services. There are very few areas of the state without some sort of transit service.

Ha ha . Transportation here sucks. Well there are too many cities/counties with independent transportation agencies anyway so that wouldn't work here. people in NJ are lucky to have it IMO.

Most definitely New Jersey. In addition to the NJ Transit system and many other smaller systems both Philadelphia and New York's public transit extend into New Jersey.

You can take a commuter rail from Philadelphia to New York having to only transfer once ( at Trenton from Philadelphia's SEPTA to NJ Transit). All of the stations are in New Jersey except for 30th Street and Penn Station.

Yea I'll have to agree with New Jersey too. Being between two massive metropolitan areas slightly helps haha

Delaware is OK (regularly went between Newark and DE, and at least it has AMTRAK and commuter rail connections to Philly) but not nearly good enough to vault into a contender, even despite its small size.

If we could count DC (as in "50 states plus the district of columbia) it would win by a landslide!

I can think of some areas in NJ with terrible public transit options, but then again, I can't think of any other state that doesn't have that problem. So yeah, I can see if we're looking at state-as-a-whole it probably is NJ.
