Still taller 933 ft without the Spire. Atlantas Suntrust building is the same Hieght as Charlottes BOA building.
What is the obsession about the spire on top of BOA Plaza? It seems that there are a handful of people that just can't accept the height of this building - I just don't get it.
People, Atlanta's BOA Plaza was constructed with a crown and a spire...get over it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the crown on the BofA tower hold the building's counter weight. I would think that is a rather important part of the building given that without it people on the upper floors would be puking at their desks all day or the building could topple over if a strong enough wind came along.

I always though that it was in the actual roof of the building, but I'm not sure.
Atlanta would more likely be the location of a "SUPER TOWER" ... although Charlotte is closing in on Atlantas dominance in the "skyline battle" of the southeastern states.
I believe the new Duke Energy skyscraper ( in Charlotte ) is quite a tall one, in addition to being a "stunner" in the looks dept!

Even though our skyline is certainly burgeoning and quite lovely, Atlanta's total skyline (not just downtown) is still far and away the most dominant in the Southeast (excluding Miami of course).

It certainly is. From many vantage points, it's the new focal point of the skyline.
Concerning the closure of Dallas' Elm Place Tower ... OMG!!! A prolific building like this .. just standing completely vacant in the heart of a thriving city??? Scary

The main reason it closed because it was OLD!
