The problem I have with drug bust valuations is that they tend to be hugely overstated in terms of actual value. For example, police will cite the high-end market value of pure cocaine even though the stuff recovered was already adulterated and thus not nearly pure. Or they will assign a single unrealistic high-end value to every single marijuana plant found in a grow operation, including nonviable plants, dead ones, or tiny little stragglers.

It tends to create an unrealistic impression of success when in fact most of the drug flow remains unimpeded.

16 murders in San Diego from 2010 Jan 01 to 2010 Jun 30.

In the previous 12 months from July 2009 through June 2010 there have been 33 murders in San Diego which has a population of approximately 1.35 million.

If the remainder of the year continues as the first half of the year, San Diego is on course to have its lowest murder count since 1972 when the population was only 722,600. It would be the lowest murder rate per population since 1966.

Goes to show you how big of a lie they've been repeating over and over about the Mexican Cartel violence spilling over to th U.S. side of the border.

Did you hear about the hit a cartel just put out on that AZ sheriff's head because he is still going to enforce the AZ law? They are a bunch of primitive fools. They probably put the hit out because those cartels are into smuggling illegals over the border and they know it will disrupt their little activities.

Alas, crime stats are set against only those who call Miami Beach their full time residence.
Good point. Orlando gets about 45 million tourists a year, so people have to keep that in mind when they look at the crime rate. But I agree the crime rate is relatively low, it's been on the decline since 2008.

Honestly, that is not very good proof of this, according to you, non-existent problem.

All the major cities that's closest to the Mexican border still have low murder rates. It's a fact. San Diego, Phoenix, San Antonio, Albuquerque, El Paso, Tucson, Houston etc...

After Hurricane Katrina there was quite the perception that the flood of illegals would create even more crime in New Orleans. It didn't happen as 5 years they're still anything but walking ATM's. So the thought that illegals bring crime is in fact a huge myth.
