Fayetteville, Arkansas - Northwest Arkansas metro.

Lots of people hear "Arkansas" and have a negative connotation involving poverty and rednecks.

What we have is a vibrant white collar economy, lots of beautiful nature and outdoors activities, and even a huge "hipster" population.

Miami: You can't live here without speaking Spanish.
I've been here almost 14 years and only speak English.

I live in Austin and here are some stereotypes I hear:

-We're all liberal
-We're mostly gay.
-Everyone here is a hipster or hippie
-The East side is full out ghetto (they're trying to gentrify it)
-SXSW is our main event. (ACL Too!)

Other than that, most of San Antonio IS Mexican. You even hear Spanish everywhere in San Antonio.

Just a quick note..... ALL Chicago's Notorious HOUSING PROJECTS ARE GONE. They were ALL TORN DOWN. They once housed 200,000 people. Could be a reason Chicago's last Population census lost that many people. Latest census showed a gain of 82 residents. Not knowing where many went and vast undercount. Black flight also has been occurring despite Downtown population skyrocketed to nearly 200,000 residents.

Detroit:

1)The entire city is one big ghetto
2) You will end up getting knifed/shot/carjacked if you go to Detroit
3) There is nothing to do for recreation/culture in Detroit
4) Detroit's entire population is black
5) The downtown areas are in a state of decay and nothing is being done about it

There are some areas of the city to avoid, but there are many attractions including restaurants, museums, and sporting events. The population is relatively diverse...and there are initiatives to rebuild and develop sections which have fallen into disrepair over the years.
