.
It can become more diverse than what it is now. I can see it's Asian numbers climbing, and etc... that would be an ideal diversity.
Yeah DFW has a lot of growth ahead of it, and it's at a much faster rate than Houston, they'll be on the same playing field soon.
Demographic trends change very quickly, so this is hard to predict. I think LA has a fairly good chance of "recovering" in the sense of keeping some of its middle class and attracting people of greater affluence in the near future. The city's changing.
By changing do you mean running out of money, losing jobs, running out of water, and scaring away businesses?

The only people that say LA is the 2nd most diverse city of the country are people that have no factual knowledge and only base it on hearsay. I think in 30 years, in California, that a lot of the diverse cities (Long Beach, Oakland, Sacramento, etc...) will remain very diverse but a lot of suburbs that are only semi-diverse right now will become increasingly diverse and become just as diverse as the larger cities.
Definitely Houston ~
Jersey City & Oakland are probably THE most diverse cities in the nation, and seeing that both of these places are seeing a lot of gentrification, they may become even more diverse. (The Asian population in these cities are really on the rise today)
