A Key City is a city that has or will have a Few Intercity / High Speed Rail lines intersecting it. Also has or will have a base system like light Rail or Streetcars making it extremely attractive to investors. The Northeastern 2030 Intercity Rail plan will accelerate this. Certain cities have advantagess over others even if they get the full package , location is the key here. This is not really a City vs. City thing its just something creative i thought this section could use. I added in the state 2030 plans aswell so there are some extra cities in there aswell.

What are the list of options?

I somehow get the feel that Baltimore will greatly benefit from it's location near Washington DC and start rebounding to it's earlier population numbers and grow more prominent to the way it used to be.

But that's just my opinion- idea.

You left Pittsburgh off the list. They'll be the central depot between the Northeast and the Midwest. Trains from New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC will funnel through and then be dispersed to Chicago and Detroit via Cleveland, and St. Louis via Columbus and Indianapolis.

I do think that the area in general will see a shift toward planning for a brighter future (in contrast to the past couple of decades)... it will be interesting to see how these cities reinvent their growth/development patterns. That will be key.

Don't feel too bad though, that's pretty much every other city not named Houston or Dallas.

The one city is see poised to benefit of an expansion of rail in that area in a significant way is Richmond (even though it's not a northeaster city as the thread says.....bah, why bother).

The weird thing is people pronounce them differently, I know which they are talking about by how they pronounce them, at least here in Philly
