So we already know that NYC, Boston are tops for jobs in the financial sector, so what do you think are some other prominent cities for white-collar work, particularly in the financial side? I'm guessing Chicago would also be strong (I know its not NE), but do you guys know of some other areas that have strong economies for white-collar workers?

My vote goes for Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis and to a lesser extent, Atlanta.

For white collar, Chicago beat everyone besides NYC...

As far as the financial side goes, the leaders of the United States go as follows:

1. New York City
2. Chicago
3. Boston
4. San Francisco
5. Washington DC

Not sure who would come after that, but I would imagine cities like Los Angeles, Miami, and Kansas City (they're quite powerful in finance believe it or not) would be up there.

Miami? Really? I thought everyone in Florida complains about how their state's economy is horrible, so what is Miami known for besides Latin America trade(I hope that doesn't sound insulting since that's not my intention, I'm just curious given how much complaining goes on around there)? Wouldn't Dallas, Houston, and even Phoenix be doing better than Miami on the finance side?

Miami has a lot of connections with Latin American banks, so I figured they'd be considered high up for finance jobs. They aren't very important in terms of investments, etc, etc...but there are lots of international banking jobs in Miami.

We aren't calling Charlotte "Northeast", right? If not I'd say Charlotte is a major financial center.

It's definitely a big banking center...in terms of finance/investing/etc, it's not.
