Its called supply & demand. We all learned it in grade school, and yes, oil is commonly referred to as "black gold" in the petroleum industry.

The option (always) is not to respond if there's no interest.

Yeah never heard of the Great Lakes called the "3rd coast"....
When I hear 3rd coast I always think of the Gulf Coast, and for some reason Texas in particular.

Metro Matt you do realize that was like a 5 second google search which even you might be capable of doing?

Maybe you can make it your daily task to find out how much money Sport fishing makes in one year in the Gulf Coast. I would think commercial fishing makes up the large majority of the 2 added together but that's just a guess.

Would you care to enlighten me? Oil is a finite resource that requires millions of dollars in infrastructure and countless man hours to extract from some of the most unforgiving environments on the planet (sea floor, deserts). Whereas milk comes from cows.

I've always heard third coast as a reference to the Great Lakes. If it's a misnomer, that's fine because it has a self-deprecating sarcasm to it that's enjoyable. It's a lot of shoreline though and that can't be denied. Like, a lot. I've also heard people refer to it as the fresh coast which I prefer. West, East, Fresh, Gulf. It works out.

Ha, I have a T-Shirt from about 1994 that has the outline of the Great Lakes, and under it it says "The Third Coast"...

Have you not been listening to the news, the weather channel, etc? I hear everyday the region you are talking about referred to as the "Gulf Coast." Head in the sand? Why does Google Earth call the Great Lakes the Third Coast if it's so EASY?
