Both Countys have large populations and have been powerful econmic growth engines. Which would you choose and why?

C'mon, you know this is just D.C. vs. Houston in disguise.

Definitely Fairfax county. Closer to my home, and less conservative than Harris county.

Harris County-
Population: 3,984,349
Seat: Houston
Density: 2,302/sq. mile
Total Area: 1,778 sq miles

Fairfax County-
Population: 1,015,302
Seat: Fairfax
Density: 2,571/sq.mile
Total Area: 407 sq. mile

You can get suburban living in both counties, both upscale and affordable, with obviously Harris County having a better cost of living. So unless you prefer Washington DC to Houston, you should choose Houston.

Oh, and Rachel(yes I spelled your name wrong, get over it), your obvious hate for Houston is revealed again with simple research that even ignorant people like you would be able to do without much effort could've been done. Fairfax County has voted Republican just 1 time less than Harris County in presidential elections. Both went for Obama in 2008. And your more likely to live in a liberal part/district in Harris County than in Fairfax.

^Excellent post, SouthmoreAve. It's probably best to just ignore certain clueless, biased posters with obvious agendas.

While there are several redeeming qualities to Fairfax, I would much rather be in Harris County - even though I've never been there. I don't care much for that part of Northern Virginia. It's nice in spots, but with a few exceptions the general population of the area is a huge turnoff to me.

On the other hand, everyone from Houston that I have dealt with in person and over the phone in business has been great (huge generalization, but that's my experience, fwiw).

Oh well, don't really care if you don't like my opinion. I would rather be close to NYC where my friends and family are anyway.

Fairfax County all the way. Tysons Corner has more office space than DT Houston. That should tell you something.
