Definetely Buffet is a world-wide financial celebrity while Omaha is relatively unknown globally.
Exactly! It seems people keep listing places where people are from as apposed to where they "RESIDE." That doesn't seem quite what the OP had intended.

I'm South Asian, and Chicago, along with San Francisco, Boston, NYC, and LA is probably one of the most known cities there, and has been before Obama. The people there, they don't even know what city Obama came from, they just know who he is and where he resides now; DC.

A city that's hosted the World Fair decades before Obama was even known, a city that gave the world the skyscraper, and is known as being one of the tallest, a city that's got so many large companies, a city known for it's airport, a city known for it's cosmopolitan atmosphere. And you're saying Barack Obama is more famous than it? That's ridiculous, O'Hare Airport I can understand, but Obama??!?!?! The guy who gained almost all his media attention in his life some 2-3 years ago?!!?!

I don't think of Chicago at all when I hear Obama. I just think good job America!

I actually think of Michael Jordan when I hear Chicago, and he's not even from there. I still think the Bulls and Jordan have that stigma attached to Chi that I will always associate with that city. I love the Chi, I go there about 6 times a year

No, but being the 13th largest city in the world as well as one of the most culturally important certainly doesn't hurt.

New York City is our flagship city, people from around the world probably attribute New York more often with the United States than D.C.
Agreed.

By the way, are you an absolute fool or do you really believe Chicago isn't known world wide? But hey, the plains of Idaho really do give one a great sample of what the rest of the world is like
LOL. All I'm saying is that some farmer in the Congo is a lot more likely to know who Barack Obama is than to know what Chicago is.

When I hear "Chicago', I think of the Cubs and White Sox. ( not Obama)

Maybe if he had been born and raised there, we wouldn't have the controversy of his being born in the US.

When I think of Obama, I think of DC. Lol.

When I think of Chicago, the first four things that come to mind are;

- Pizza
- O'Hare International
- Downtown
- And this; http://i.eimg.com.tw/d/alb/47/66847.300.jpg?ver=0
^^ The picture is not mine, so I can't post it like that.

Not sure if you're talking about me or not, but Frank Lloyd Wright lived in Spring Green, WI for many years, after living in Oak Park, IL. His home was named Taliesin, and he lived there from 1911-1938.

I saw your comment but I didn't respond because I wasn't sure if he had moved back to WI at some point during his life or not. I knew he did several projects in that state, like the Johnson Wax Building, and one of his two Taliesin Architecture schools was based out in WI (Taliesin West, the other school, is based out of AZ). But I wasn't %100 sure if he had ever moved his firm out to Spring Green or not so I didn't want to call you out for spreading miss information. Anyways, thanks for clarifying.

I didn't even know L.A was the 13th largest city in the world, and I check this site almost every day. So apparently, it doesn't help either.
