Utah, I wouldn't want to live in either but visited around the greater SLC area this summer and it is incredibly scenic. More so than Colorado I thought. Went to a house party in SLC also and nobody there was mormon believe it or not...
Beg to differ. I've known many Mormons, including neighbors.. and there is no question that anyone who believes that crap is one step removed from nuts. Consider this, in 100 years, scientologists will be considered just as mainstream as Mormons. With age comes (perceived) legitimacy. The Mormons stayed in Utah for a reason, no where else would tolerate their BS.
When You really break it down all religions have some pretty screwy beliefs.
I have a few good friends that are (temple) mormons. Not exactly the best drinking buddies, but you can still have a pretty good time with them. I have never been proselytized by them.
I'll make friends with the person, not ideologies.
Which state is more beautiful? Utah for the eyes; West Virginia for the soul.
Utah has more majestic scenery than West Virginia, but I've never felt more alive than I have camping in the Monongahela National Forest in the eastern part of W Va, not just for its breathtaking vistas, but also for the abundance of trees and plants and rushing, pristine rivers and streams, the warm but often comfortable weather in summer, and most of all--its air quality (the freshness of the air is probably the first thing you'll notice when you arrive). I've been throughout the American west, Canada, the Great Smokey Mountains, and abroad, but there are places in West Virginia that are hard to beat for elevating all the senses. For example, the Monongahela National Forest is one of the few places in this country where you can literally get away from it all. It contains the quiet zone, where your cell phone won't work and you'll have difficulty picking up a radio station even at night.
