Being modeled after paris doesn't make you unique, it makes you a copycat from the start.
It actually wasn't modeled after Paris. When L'Enfant designed the layout for DC, he incorporated city planning elements from a number of European cities that he had studied. He grew up near Paris, so that undoubtedly impacted his design of the city, but it wasn't the only influence.
Did I ever say it was the most unique city? Don't think so. You really do have the worst reading comprehension that I've ever seen on here. I said that it's unique in certain ways that no one else can compare. So are other cities, but no one has the European layout like DC.
Did it copy Paris? Um, no. It was designed by a Frenchman. Paris was actually being rebuilt into what it is now at the same time as DC.
Funny, even your NYC buddies seemed to agree that DC is unique. It's a different layout than other cities. It doesn't have giant skyscrapers that block everything. I think it looks great without them. If I want to stare at a giant building I can just drive to Baltimore or Philly. It makes for a pleasant street experience with more sunlight which is great for all of the outdoor cafes and parks. It copied other neighborhoods? HAHA You are unbelievable.
It's obvious you don't like DC, but you're not the only person in this world. Get over yourself.
A great many people move and travel freely within the stretch from DC to NYC. I know lots of former New Yorkers who live in the DC area for school or work and plenty of DC people who've moved to the tri-state area and Philly as well. DC to NYC is probably the most interconnected/interwoven stretch in the U.S. The most densely populated as well.
I was in DC yesterday, and I got lost and ended up going almost completely around the capitol beltway, and I must give credit where credit is do, I've never seen so many construction cranes in all my life. It looks like they are doing big things down there at the moment.

It sounds like you were in Virginia. They're renovating the Tysons Corner area and constructing 23 miles of metro track for the new silver line along the Dulles corridor. NoVa is much of the reason for the DC area's growth over the past 20 years.

I wish they would renovate KoP the same way up here, but I understand that the Philly metro doesn't have the same level of investment that the DC area currently has.
