Sounds like you would enjoy the Warehouse District in Cleveland. It has clubs and lounges similar to what you might find in River North. Places are more accessible and relaxed in Cleveland though, and you will not be paying $20 covers (unless there is a notable DJ) or dealing doormen.

I'll def have to check out the Warehouse District. I am trying to find an area to stay that is close to downtown and that's safe.
If your already in Wicker Park and Lincoln Park then your already making the right move. Great area and lots to do and eat! Don't know if your interested but the Chicago Auto Show is coming up at Mccormick Place and is worth checking out! (
