Excellent point.

Default Coming from Marietta oh

My husband is also newly employed in Elyria, we have looked at some great homes at great prices with an Elyria address. Don't have to worry about schools..any reasons that we should not consider the East River Rd area of Elyria? All help appreciated!

The thing is that you DO have to consider the quality of schools. They affect your ability to sell the house when you leave the area. You are getting better prices in Elyria as the area is considered less desirable due to the school district.

Now, if you plan to live in the area for a long time and you don't have children, you have no problems. If this is a corporate relocation and you will be moved out of the area in 4-6 years, the area may mean the difference in selling your home in six weeks or six months.

In all fairness though, that is a nice area and was part of the three mile walk that I used to hike during my one hour lunch break.

Hope that helps.

Avon would be a good choice. Great schools, extremely low crime, almost non exsistent. Elyria isn't bad, but if I was going to live anywhere in Lorain county in that area I would choose Avon, or even Avon Lake. Elyria has some crime issues, but it is for the most part concentrated in one or two areas.

Good to see more people getting jobs and moving to Elyria, I lived in the city for a while growing up and am still there a lot.

East River rd is a nice area, some parts better than others.

Can I ask what part of East River rd you're looking at? and price range?

I am thinking about purchasing a new home in Elyria. The new home is off of Fowl Rd. and thats in between Oberlin Rd. and West Ridge Rd. and north of Albrecht Rd. Does anyone know anything about this area? Its west of downtown. I am new this area and currently live in Medina and basically have no clue about Elyria. Ive read some posts some good and a bunch of bad ones. So now im reconsidering about moving there at all. So if you know anything about this area please help me out. Thanks.
