I read an article recently about how linguists solved a kidnapping case in Illinois because of this. Apparently the kidnapper instructed in his ransom note to "leave the money in the trash bin in the Devil's Strip". The linguist asked investigators if any of their suspects were from Akron. Sure enough, one was, and turned out to have been the kidnapper.

Regarding Cleveland beaches (Edgewater ect.), how many people would you guesstimate are out on the beach on a warm summer day? 50? 100? 500? I've never been to the beach there. That's why I ask.

I wonder if it's a "Devil's Strip" in Cleveland too, or if it's simply the "Tree Lawn"?

Nope. Everyone around here calls it a tree lawn.

Cleveland beaches on hot summer days can be quite crowded. If the kids are out of school, I'd say 250-500 in a place like Edgewater is not out of the question on any given day.
