This week, Cleveland was ranked as a top 10 cities for bicyclists by HGTV:

The 10 Greatest Cycling Cities in America : HGTV FrontDoor Real Estate

5-10 years ago, I would have never considered Cleveland close to this list, but personally, I'm seeing so many more bikes around town. Does anyone else notice the huge increase??

I decided to search recent news and here are a few stories I can up with:

Not too surprising IMO that Cleveland made the list. Whenever I'm there, I certainly notice a visible bike culture. Go Cleveland!

Lakewood aims to be the #1 most bike friendly community in the US by 2015. I doubt they will reach #1 but it's an admirable goal.

this. makes. me. super. happy.
I'm a native Clevelander who fled in 1992 for greener job pastures and the Army. I'm happy to say my hubby (a native of New Mexico) and I are moving back and it wasn't even my idea. I had written Cleveland off and believed the hype until we visited some family and my hubby fell in love with the area and began a campaign to get me to agree to move there when we leave the service. Man, he was RIGHT! I didn't even realize how good we had it and how much better it's gotten there. Hopefully Cleveland will forgive me. I actually fell so in love again I made a powerpoint to hold all the amazing things about my beloved city of birth. A freakin' powerpoint in my spare time. It's so awesome I sent it to friends who asked about it and they want to move there too. I will be planning a vacation every January to almost anywhere else, but otherwise, man I'm excited!

Honestly, I don't see it.....at least if you're just looking at the city itself. The metro area obviously is great for biking with the Metro Parks and valley, but the city lacks bike lanes and paths compared to many others.

Whilst I would agree, you would be surprised how many cities our size have 50 suburbs without even sidewalks. So, comparatively....
