I have come back to Cleveland after over two years, to sort out my house in Euclid. City seems significantly different in just two years (lower property prices, more section 8 folks, more houses for sale on my street etc...).

However, I noticed a brand new school (or an improvement to the old one?) on 260th and Shoreline. My handyman told me that there are other schools being built in Euclid too.

How is the city getting money to fund these schools? If the city population has fallen in the past few decades, why build new schools? Does anyone thing that property prices will go up if these schools attract new residents?

The Ohio School Facilities Commission is helping to fund new schools throughout the state. The poorer the district, the smaller their share is. Some of the poorest districts only had to pay 20-30 percent of the total cost of the new buildings, so it was a no-brainer for the district's residents.
